How Rohit Rohit allegedly stalked the woman

Authorities said the woman found an Apple AirTag hidden under the hood of her vehicle in January, around the time investigators believe the stalking began. The harassment allegedly escalated in the following months. In one incident, Rohit allegedly deflated a tyre on the woman’s vehicle and then followed her to work, apparently so he could offer assistance. Investigators also said he obtained a copy of her apartment key and entered her home while she was sleeping. When confronted the next morning, Rohit reportedly claimed he had entered the apartment because he was worried something had happened to her after she failed to answer him.The woman initially declined to pursue criminal charges or seek a restraining order, but deputies remained in contact with her. In May, they again requested her to obtain a restraining order, which she eventually did.On July 29, the woman reported that Rohit had allegedly violated the order by leaving random grocery items at her front door, according to the sheriff’s office.

Woman chased, shot outside Panera

On September 8, Rohit allegedly parked near a shopping centre on Howe Avenue shortly before 3pm. The woman was later dropped off at the location, where Rohit approached and confronted her, authorities said. When she tried to flee, Rohit allegedly chased her, pulled out a firearm and shot her multiple times. He then approached her as she lay on the ground and shot her in the head at close range, according to investigators. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.A witness photographed Rohit’s vehicle and alerted police. The vehicle was also entered into the sheriff’s FLOCK automated licence plate reader system, helping deputies track him.Deputies located Rohit’s vehicle on Highway 50 and attempted to stop him. He stopped on the freeway and was later found dead inside the vehicle from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.

No known criminal history

Rohit had no known criminal history in Sacramento County, officials said. Investigators are examining how he obtained the firearm and how he obtained a copy of the woman’s apartment key.Detectives are also reviewing surveillance footage, processing the vehicles involved and interviewing people who knew Rohit and the victim.Sheriff’s officials said the investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to provide the victim’s family with more information about what led to the killing.
