CBS News reported that President Donald Trump wanted assistant attorney general Harmeet Dhillon to be fired immediately after Trump watched her October 18 appearance on 60 Minutes, discussing the government’s election integrity efforts. The report also included an explanation from one source that afer watching the interview, Trump felt that Dhillon was not adequate enough in her assertions — she should have been more forceful in her explanation.Dhillon mentioned in her resignation that she informed White House chief of staff Susie Wiles that she would step down after the midterm elections.Justice Department officials, CBS reported, were able to stall the immediate exit plan and allowed Dhillon to proceed with her plans to resign after the midterm election was over.“Serving my country as AAG for Civil Rights has been the honor of a lifetime.
