Ronnie James Dio Cancer Fund donations have passed $2 million since the rock singer’s death, giving his name a lasting role in medical research. The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund is privately funded, with income from annual events and direct support from fans worldwide. Its money backs scientific institutions and their research, alongside education work aimed at cancer, from early detection and prevention through to treatment. Based in Studio City, California, the charity directs gifts of every size, from ticket sales to direct online donations, towards a single purpose, better tools for finding and treating cancer. Funding research that spots prostate, colon and stomach cancers earlier and guides treatment According to the Dio Cancer Fund website, the charity concentrates on three cancers that are prostate, colon and stomach. It says it has spent the past ten years supporting scientific institutions that work with cutting-edge technology. Researchers use genetics and precise genetic information to build tools that identify cancer cells, which in turn helps doctors weigh up the treatment options open to a patient. The emphasis is on giving clinicians clearer evidence before they decide how to proceed. Billboard reports that Sirius XM host Eddie Trunk has hosted the event at Pinz Bowling Centre, where a raffle of prizes and memorabilia runs alongside the tournament. Past line-ups have featured Tom Morello, Jack Black, Geezer Butler, Sebastian Bach and Richie Sambora. The 2026 edition takes place on Thursday 12 November, the fund says, with corporate and team lanes and spectator tickets on sale. An online auction also offers the winning bidder a place on Trunk’s celebrity bowling team.
