At least four people were killed, and a child was critically injured in a stabbing spree in Houma, Louisiana, on Saturday, with police launching a manhunt for a 47-year-old man identified as a person of interest.Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office initially responded to the Ashland Drive area after finding a juvenile with an apparent stab wound. The child was airlifted to an out-of-area hospital in critical condition.As deputies continued their investigation, they found multiple deceased victims inside nearby homes, Sheriff Tim Soignet said. At least four people were pronounced dead, authorities said.The victims have not yet been publicly identified, and authorities have not disclosed whether they were known to the person of interest.Authorities identified Kaegan Jude Solet, 47, of Houma, as a person of interest in the case. The sheriff stressed that being identified as a person of interest does not mean Solet has been arrested or charged in connection with Saturday’s killings.Authorities believe Solet may still be in the area, although investigators have not ruled out other possibilities. “Our hope is that we plan to get him in custody very quickly,” Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Lt Blake Tabor told Fox News Digital.Solet has previously faced charges in connection with stabbing cases but was not convicted.In 2019, he was charged with attempted second-degree murder after a woman was found with multiple stab wounds at a Houma motel. Solet was later acquitted in the case in 2023.He was also charged in 2019 in connection with the fatal stabbing of a homeless man in Houma. A grand jury later declined to indict him, citing insufficient evidence.The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office has urged anyone with information about Solet’s whereabouts to contact its detectives.Authorities said anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers Bayou Region. Tipsters whose information leads to an arrest could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
